Is there a point to this?

Get a car loser! Wooohooo!

(Peels out of 7-11 parking lot in Camaro with cheerleader riding shotgun kicking dust in John Cusack's face.)

Boo-fucking-hoo, cabbies. People don't carry cash anymore. That's just a reality that needs to be dealt with.

Another reality that needs to be dealt with: how many of you were aware that if you're injured in a cab and don't have your own auto/health insurance, you're completely on your own for ongoing medical care?

Every other car on the road is required to be insured with at least $15K in no-fault medical benefits to help people get ongoing care. The cabs that are constantly on the road and constantly driving like idiots aren't required to (thus don't) have it.

They do tend to sigh pretty loud when they have to get the credit card device ready... "Ah, man, this is the part of the job I hate..."

I haven't had to take a cab in Portland in years – do cabbies still sulk when you use a card? Seriously? In 2013?

Between the fact that most trips to the airport seem to cost about $40 (according to my friends) and people just don't carry large amounts of cash anymore, WTF do they expect?

As technoelitist as it sounds, I'm glad Uber and the like are disrupting this shit. If fucking FOOD CARTS can take cards, so can a cab driver.

Most cabbies in this town are complete assholes from start to finish, so a credit card is pretty much just karma at that point.

CC: I was in a cab, and the driver accidentally went straight through a red light on Broadway at 1am. Despite the fact that I was drunk and in a crowded cab, I noticed and said, "RED LIGHT" and then the guy skidded to a stop in the middle of the intersection. Nothing bad happened, but something could have!!

I did not own a car at the time, so I didn't have my own insurance. I hate taking cabs.

Umm...Trimet, 2.50, bring a book, case closed.
9
Anthony being the bus driver, in this case.

Case reopened! How late does TriMet run?

Please wait...
