I have many friends that happen to be PPS schoolteachers, but enough is enough.
We just passed a huge new tax for rebuilding the school infrastrucure... and this shouldn't be taken lightly....
and now the teachers feel they deserve more money too, right?
Compare your own vacation time, wages, medical 'benefits' to your average PPS teacher -- and then look at the graduation rate we have in PDX proper.
The teachers union has one hell of a lot of sway here, and the profession is certainly honorable, but I feel we are doing more than fair by them and it is time for them to earn the raises.
