I'm surprised that I have read nothing in this bike friendly paper about the Copenhagen wheel.

The official Christmas in the Northwest video has nothing on the live karaoke version.

I thought that Oregonian article about East Portland was infuriating. Everyone complaining about multifamily development doesn't seem to realize they're talking about a symptom. "Bigger lots with trees are better to raise families!" Okay, sure, that's great - but where are all the other people supposed to live? Are we supposed to have big 1-house lots all the way to the coast and the mountain? Just suburban sprawl all the way to the horizon? And those folks can just commute for an hour, by car, to get to work? Sounds like you're all really mad about the number of people there are - good, that's a problem, get mad about that. But the city planners were RIGHT to encourage high-density housing. All the people quoted in this article just don't want to give up their big lots, and are pretending that decision wouldn't effect a hell of a lot of people.

The second complain was just as infuriating. They kept blaming the city planners for not building streetcars and bike lanes and other infrastructure through all of East Portland. How is that their fault? Did we give them the $50 million in taxes that would take? Are they just sitting around on a big pile of money they were supposed to spend? No, for pete's sake. I'm pretty sure none of the people in this article have been telling City Hall to take MORE taxes over the last 20 years.
