I'm sure I'm not the first to suggest this, but because of its appearance shouldn't the new bridge, in common vernacular, be called "The Harp"?
2
Also, apparently you've forgotten my suggestion from ALMOST THREE YEARS AGO, the "Cassano Narrows Bridge."

These names; that is, the ones chosen by the TriMet panel? Not only are they wholly uninspiring and drab, but... sadly un-Portland. There was so much excitement for a new and unique name.

Now we're relegated to ASDTB, CCTB, TCTB, and the WTB for remotely short and/or non vomit-inducing names. FML and WTF? These are the best options??

Maybe TB or not TB (it's very meta, no?) Or alternatively TCBY aka "Yogurt Bridge." That could be fun.

I mean, if we're stuck with these choices, at least there's Bridge of the People. BOTP (pronounced bow-tee-pee) is alright.

Example:
Chris: "You bike to work this morning?"
Karl: "Yeah. Just rolled over Bow-TeePee"
Chris: "Nice. Anyway, coffee and a blunt before the deposition this afternoon?"
Karl: "You know it."
(both high-five before entering the courtroom)

The Sellweed Bridge.

I regret that I have but one like for Todd Mecklem's name. It's perfect. Bravo, Todd.
9
"Cascadia Crossing" sounds like the name of a godawful out-of-town shopping center.
10
They are not good names, and we are shocked this was the best they could come up with. The name should be one word, not difficult and beautiful. My husband sent one in that should have been in the running. It was ALONDRA-meaning Meadowlark in Spanish. After the State bird .
11
Whatever its called, I think the majority of Portland will eventually refer to it as the "why the fuck can't I drive over that" bridge.
12
maybe someone can do a FOIA request on the list of submissions
13
I thought i would be the only vote for Karen.

That's fucked up.
14
Ain't nobody got time to say Abigail Scott Duniway, but "the Duniway bridge" doesn't sound bad. Sounds transporty.
15
Ugh I bet the same panel selects those gawdawful poems.
16
@Babygorilla: "Majority of Portland" or "Majority of Clackamas County?"
17
This idea should be Duniway with.......
HEEEEYYYYYY OOOOOHHHHHH!
18
If you're going for stupid names....how about the THUNDER BRIDGE.
19
What a bunch of dumb names. I think people are commenting with way better ideas for a name. Who came up with the ones they're considering??! They should be fired

Please wait...
