The real problem at nearly all public performances be it music or theater is the complete lack of ushers doing their job. Why should an actor have needed to take care of it the person should have long since been ejected by an usher. I am so tired of people taking flash photos, checking their phones, and otherwise disrupting performances.

Speaking as an actor, I have a few questions:

1. Where the hell was the House Manager?

2. Where the hell was the Stage Manager?

3. Why were the police not called during the first act?

4. Why was this patron served, if he was so evidently intoxicated?

Regarding the actor in question, I am of two minds:

1. Every actor who has ever been heckled, or has had a performance disrupted by an obnoxious patron, is probably cheering this guy.

2. Ms. Low, while showing herself to be somewhat confused on the issue of "taking audience criticism", does have a very valid point: What if this idiot had a gun? Despite Dan's snarkiness, we are living in a world where ammosexuals tote long arms to Taco Bells in Texas. Bringing a handgun to a theater is not at all far-fetched.

The actor's responsibility is to perform, not maintain crowd control. That is the job of the House Manager, and it is that idiot who should have been fired. I hope this guy gets his job back.

Please wait...
