"The deal will cost the city $900,000 over the next three years" - Well thank you "the city". I'm glad you've found it within your heart to unilaterally raise wages for so much of your workforce. I'm sure it was difficult to figure out where the tough sacrifices had to be made, and where the increased productivity had to come from to find the extra money, especially in this time of economic stagnation for so much of the country.

In fact, Portland's finances are looking so rosy that our benevolent city officials have decided to rescind all attempts at proposing any new taxes or fee's. Unfunded liabilities, debt, basic maintenance? These are all important issues to be addressed, but not nearly as important as placating the unions.
