The only accurate way to test for rabies is to cut of the dog's head and send it in to a testing facility.

I was once chased down my own street by my horrible neighbors large snarling dogs with my newborn 2 month old baby girl in my arms! I wish i had gone back there with my husbands gun and shot those dogs.Better they die then me and my baby girl. I think it wouldve been the right thing to do if I had the stomache for it, and it would have been legal too as they were a threat to my and my familys life

Walking down the street with a loaded weapon and then opening fire in the neighborhood probably isn't legal...now if you were a registered gun carrier and pull that fucker out and shot them between the eyes, you would probably be okay...better to call animal services in this case.

The above comment was @ LI...sorry for any confusion...

I did call animal services, and thanks to them killing the neighbors goats, the dogs were put down shortly after. However you are wrong, I checked and it is legal to shoot an animal that is a threat to your life. I am a registered gun carrier and it wasnt in a neighborhood really but on a country road. The point is dogs are dangerous, they need to be in a fenced yard or on a leash. Our neighbors son was afraid to ride his bike because of these dogs and they almost knocked my husband off his motorcyle. I love animals and often donate to animal shelters, but I'm glad these violent animals were put down, wish it had been sooner.

I find myself in a contradictory state of thought about this issue Li. I get your points, I really do. I guess If I had a gun on me and at one moment the dogs were coming at me and I felt I needed to protect myself and child, I would not hesitate to take action- even lethal if needed. Although I made a joking comment about it above...I do feel killing any animal is unethical. It's a contradiction to be sure but I bet there is an alternative. I don't know if the option is available in your area but there are places that take violent uncontrolled animals such as you described and rehabilitate and take care of them. It is a humane alternative that deserves consideration. btw, register already, its free...

I was running for my life with my newborn in my arms with barking snarling dogs at my heals that weigh more then I do easily. I dont even know how I outran them. It was the scariest day of my life, and I havent exactly been sheltered. Clearly you are not a parent. Animal services told the owners they had to keep them in their already fenced very large yard, but they refused. That led to the dogs killing our neighbors goats. Honestly I think the owners were at fault not the dogs, however everyone who lived on that street is safer now that dogs are dead, and I'm glad.

No, in fact I am not a parent. My children died in a horrible car accident....It was the worst day of my life. We were on vacation at a remote village in the Amazon. I always wanted to learn the language you see, but the natives hated us whites because we stole their forest. Clearly you are not human. and they decided to spear my children. I ran with my wife in tow and barely made it out alive. Now every time I hear of deforestation I inwardly smile...
