PROTIP: THE PRETENTIOUSNESS OF MY DIET IS SHEER PROJECTION ON YOUR PART. I'M NOT WALKING AROUND BITCHING AT PEOPLE FOR EATING THINGS I DON'T. I JUST DON'T EAT CERTAIN THINGS.

We are not tedious! In addition, the stereotypes you describe are a minority, albeit a vociferous one. Portland is so much more than that, explore it anon.
I don't see "hipsters" crying out for attention. I see people wanting to be "hipsters" (for some reason...be who you are!), not quite making it and taking it out on those they perceive to be "hip".
Ok, seriously. I think it's hilarious when people complain about how the only thing to do around here is get drunk. If all you do around here is get drunk, you're doing it wrong.
I've been vegan for 6 months now, and feeling great.... almost no signs of dickishness or judgmental attitude anywhere to be found. Same for the dozens of vegans I've met. Maybe we all find what we're looking for?
As for the issue on bar culture.... well, let's just say I heavily overindulged trying to meet friends and lovers, but to very little effect. If you're feeling the same but like going out to socialize, go check out Bula Kava House on 31st & SE Division. Mellow cafe / bar atmosphere and kava lends a chatty, giddy buzz. Have enjoyed hangin' there since I started sobering up.

Time for a new feather pillow!

i do think its great you wrote a post about hipsters telling people they should ignore hipsters.
then you wrote an opinion about gentrification that started with the phrase 'no one really cares'.
sometimes i wonder if people listen to themselves when they speak.
