that's right, Anon. We need more movies about zombies with long, bloody knives. We need more movies with car chases. No.....fewer movies, I mean. Fewer. In fact, how about no more movies ever?
How about 'no more movies about the zombie apocolypse'. and while we're at it, no more people at parties telling me their plans for the zombie apocolypse
The holocaust is a reminder that a "civilized" society can be complicit in the erosion of the rights of it's own people. It is a horrifying example of an insane government marginalizing a small portion of the population in order to direct the masses attention away from a murderous consolidation of power.
We have yet to learn the lessons of that dark era and continue to let history repeat itself. So, yes, we need more movies about WWII and the holocaust.
Erosion of individual rights? Consolidation of corporate power in government? Diminished personal wealth? Division of society? Criminalization of open communication and media? The ability of the government to lock up it's own citizens without reason or due process?
Any of this sound familiar to you?
If it was a good, new interpretation of the horrors that could make you feel some new empathy - then the film worked and was worth it.
But sadly, many just re-work old films and emotions of the past.
I get what you are saying, but perhaps the younger folk just haven't seen these old films and such that you have?
That said, I have seen many many films of this genre', and I don't really care to see any more either.
Unless....
