Fat.
2
It baffles me that this is considered a socially acceptable thing to do.

This has ALWAYS been crystal clear to ME. But yeah, i totally get what you're saying IA. All great points on your part.

Bottom line is, humans are effing stupid and suck. Another thing i notice A WHOLE LOT (and i'm sure many of you have also witnessed this behavior) is that while on the bus, whenever a parent with a small child or baby boards, some stranger-ass idiot adult will immediately start talking to the small child in a baby voice! Then they'll ask the parent/accompanying grown-up all sorts of stupid-ass nosy questions.

These are complete strangers who do this! Mostly crazy old people.

I loved your episode of Seinfeld.
5
SINCE WHEN IT IS IT INAPPROPRIATE TO COMMENT ONE SOMEONE ELSE'S BODY? NICE TITS, BY THE WAY.
6
Not to be a horrible bitch, but maybe your posture could use some improving? I've been slightly heavier my whole life, but have never had anyone ask me if I was pregnant (of course I am a few weeks pregnant now, so that's probably all about to change). My best friend, however, who has always been smaller than me, gets asked quite a bit. She has always had the worst posture - slumping her shoulders and sticking her stomach out. That's not to say these strangers aren't being nosy assholes, but, you know, try standing up straight, too.
7
If we would stop letting pregnant women out in public then no one would think to ask.
8
People are obnoxious and ignorant.

Also, kettlebells.
9
Kettlebells?
10
Please, call out these assholes in public to embarrass them, if you don't they'll think what they're doing is socially expectable.
11
^YES!^
12
lady, are you giving birth to a lineage alien too? if so, please give me SF references to understand you more so we can understand each other better.
14
Who cares? Calling someone fat is totally ok. Only in 'Merica is this a problem. People in other countries find it to be fine because they know it's gross. We just accept it here.

It's not okay to take an interest in someone else's potential child? Well, maybe people shouldn't bring their children in public, ever. Your kids are none of our business. Let's keep it that way.
15
Boohoo.
16
See your doctor. Ovarian cancer has few symptoms, but abdominal bloating is one of them(consider that for a moment and observe how being perceived as "fat" suddenly became less of a problem)
17
Your Body, Everyone in Comment Thread's Business, apparently
19
When a woman says she's "not fat" but 2 people in one night ask her if she is pregnant, something that normally would kind of go against the "code of conduct" I'm guessing she's a little fat.
20
Well, it's Everybody in Comment Thread's business because it was something that the subject felt the need to post on the internet. If the subject didn't want this sort of discussion to result, well...

I'm talking about all the assumptions about her body based on the post. I,A makes a completely valid point, and just raising the issue doesn't make it OK for everyone to make a bunch of fat insults or offer possibly well-meaning but misguided amateur internet medical help on everything from posture to ovarian cancer to avoid the point which is that people are being presumptuous insulting idiots to women in public.
Look, "fat" is a notoriously overapplied term in this culture. And if a woman is even 5-10 pounds of extra weight and she's someone who holds her extra weight in the lower abdominal area, then it can lead some people to assume she might be pregnant. They then go up to her and start running off at the mouth and hurt her feelings. And a few extra pounds overweight is being "fat" or "a little fat" to some of the louts here who likely wouldn't hold a man with a slight paunch to the same standard.
Even if a woman is "fat" it doesn't mean she needs to be reminded of it several times a day in public because of where her fat is distributed on her body. But I know the internet is full of people who will say that fat people should lose the weight if they don't want to face humiliation. Classy.
22
I'm not saying it's valid, I'm just saying that it shouldn't come as any surprise. When you throw an idea out into general population (to use a prison term), chances are you're gonna get a lot of worthless feedback. Or you'll even get a lot of Everything, actually.
23
ummm...so when are you due?

Please wait...
