I probably hit up at least a couple BBQs per month during spring/summer and have never come across this gluten free nonsense. I know hanging with the in-crowd/wheatphobes tickles your ego, but it's an empty life full of empty meals and empty personalities.
2
Well as someone whose hosted house parties before, i've learned to try and come up with [at least] vegetarian/pescatarian options. I realize that not all of my friends eat bacon and ground beef- i'm totally cool with that. I do what i can, but i also encourage potluck and byob. But i've NEVER been in a situation where folks were made to feel "guilty" just b/c they brought something that maybe was made out of pork.

Then again, none of my friends are that stuck up.

I BBQ a couple times a year. If cowflesh is what you love then come on over. However, DO NOT impose on my muthafuckin' cuisine with your chunks of faux protein. Do feel free to bring beer, gluten-free or otherwise.
4
It's a goth BBQ at Damosa da posa's ! We'll sit around listening to Bauhaus and talk about who's wearing what by whom. Does zumiez sell lighter fluid?
5
I think gluten-free and veganism are things White gurls invented so they would sound more interesting.
6
Some people are allergic to gluten, but that's the only good excuse to be "gluten free" without sounding like an asshole at a bbq. Veganism is simply an extremely unhealthy diet, no matter how well-meaning some of its followers may be. But if it's that big of a deal, split up the grill or better yet, use two, one meat/wheat, one for the special folks. If your friends don't already get this, they are lame poseurs deserving of ridicule.
7
I have Vegan friends, but I am not going to tell them what to do or eat as long as they do the same. Vegan diets are unhealthy (not because they are meat free), and many of those faux proteins are both nasty and not very healthy, sorry

@4- I'm certain that if you ask Cliff nicely he will provide for you an access ramp and high-chair.
9
As I'm sure he'll provide you with the lube, knee pads, and the safe word you'll need.

I now know for a fact this is you.

How is a vegan diet unhealthy, again? Please, educate me. i believe that different folks have different body types & hence different needs, nutritionally. i don't need meat, but i do need dairy because i love cheese. Hence i am not, specifically vegan. But, any person who is educated about basic food & nutrition knows that a vegan diet is actually very sustainable & healthy.

i don't mean uptight, pretend allergies & reject food that might have come anywhere near an animal product. i mean a real, whole food, plant based diet. i mean, legumes have been shown to be a far superior source of protein to meat. A vegan/vegetarian diet, when done right & real, is seriously healthy for alot of people. But, not all. And it doesn't involve supporting an industry that tortures living beings.

So, hey...don't diss a whole food, vegan or vegetarian diet. It is probably far healthier than most american diets out there that consume meat. Still, one should never bring "alternative meat products" to a bbq. That's just insulting.

I concur. However, so long as they show up with a 5th of something, all shall be forgiven!

And Charles, his cure sleeve has come together quite nicely. We've actually met several times you fuckhead. @a neopolitan beard house party a few years back....
22
That is terrific, hope you enjoyed the show. However one tattoo of Robert Smith does not constitute a sleeve. NB has reunited recently so if you are at a show then introduce yourself. I'm actually somewhat friendly in person. Which house show was it? They played quite a few.
23
Is this Robert Smith tattoo any good?
24
By 82nd. Montavilla? Shit I forget. It was before Caedmonster

If you think veganism is unhealthy you are uneducated on the subject. Everyone has the right to eat whatever diet they want to. Being mean to someone because they eat meat or dont eat meat or gluten or whatever is just small minded and stupid. Grow up people, didn't you learn in preschool that people are different and its ok? Just be nice to each other, instead of looking for ways that you are differnent so you can pretend your way makes you better. you are not better, all people suck.
29
GODDAMN THESE PEOPLE I OSTENSIBLY KNOW AND LIKE SHOWING UP AT MY HOUSE INVITED WITH HOMECOOKED FOOD TO SHARE! I FUCKING HATE THIS TOWN! AHHHHHH!

Please wait...
