Is there not enough music on the radio for you? What kind of music would they play that would be different from the rest of the radio stations? It hardly seems like "music" is some kind of niche on the radio that needs to be filled. If you're looking for music, I recommend that you tune to pretty much any other spot on the dial, or you can always take advantage of one of the many portable music formats that are available today.

Now, you might want to be sitting down for this next part, because I think it may shock you. Are you ready? Seriously, brace yourself. Okay, here we go... You could always just not listen to it. I know it's crazy, but hear me out. No one is making you listen. Really. Look behind you. Don't see anyone with a gun and a tote bag? I didn't think so. That means that you can just turn it off, and nothing bad will happen to you. Trust me. It'll be okay.

yeah, listening to words and being forced to think is stupid.....hearing different perspectives and learning a bit about something i didn't seek out is dumb.....and i hate that i don't get to hear any ad jingles -- boring!!

wait -- does their signal even reach portland anyway??!? -- i mean, if we're talking internet radio here, then surely you can find something better than both OPB and JPR, no?.....

I listen to OPB Music ALL DAY EVERY DAY! I wish their great music show "In House" had more time on the radio, but they have a 24-hour music stream online which is absolutely excellent. They play a ton of Portland bands, old songs, new songs, just a really great mix. They also have a mobile app. So... www.opbmusic.org

Hey dork! Go to opbmusic.org. It's OPB's 24-hour music streaming service. Also, check out Jazz Radio KMHD (89.1 FM) for more music. OPB manages KMHD. So there's plenty of music on OPB, really. Go to http://www.opb.org/connect/apps to get the opbmusic app.

All of these services are free to you because other people give money when OPB "begs" for members. ;-)

@ s. mirk:

'ALL DAY EVERY DAY!!'.....wow, you don't give 89.1 even a tiny bit of love??.....c'mon now, don't cheat yourself.....

i love OPB, too, but they maintain no monopoly on fantastic/uninque/moving music in these parts.....

(almost, though)

ok -- i just read comment #8 a little closer -- so, apparently 89.1 is pretty much OPB as well.....should've known.....

woe is me.

they appear to have a monopoly, indeed.

Please wait...
