You know how, sometimes, it's really obvious that someone "like"ed their own post... even though it's shit?

Yep, pedestrians have the right of way (unless you were crossing mid-block less than 150 feet from a marked crosswalk). Bicyclists (and I count myself among them) must yield like car drivers.

So the cyclist was wrong to yell at you. Technically, they probably should have stopped, or at least slowed. But one thing I LOVE about bicycling is that there is such a great ability to share the road and maneuver around pedestrians. Yay for sharing!

Also, road ways were initially built for bicycles (http://www.roadswerenotbuiltforcars.com/ --there are many other resources online about this, too). Motor vehicles have bicycles to thank for beginning our contemporary infrastructure. Moreover, roadways need to be built for all users--everyone is a pedestrian some time.
