Why don't you tell us the one about why it's not good to stick one's hands in a blender?

This is such a FASCINATING complaint!

No matter how much I hurry across, I could still get hit by an inattentive driver. Funny how you don't put any onus on the people behind the wheel to obey laws and do what they need to do to stay in control of their vehicle.
A friend of mine was killed crossing a street by an asshole motorist who was speeding and didn't give enough of a shit to watch out for people crossing and be safe. So you're saying it was my dead friend's fault for not getting across fast enough? Fuck you. Fuck you in the ass with your own exhaust pipe. Mmkay?

"Sooner or later you're bound to get hurt or killed, and it will be your own damn fault."
Wrong, that would be the fault of the person who did not yield the right of way. I just wish there was more than a slap on the wrist for people who endanger and hurt pedestrians as they arrogantly and obliviously rush around in their precious death machines.
So thanks for the suggestions, but I think I'll just cross the street at a normal pace unless there's some compelling reason why I should run. Prick.

Show me some damn camel toes.

Geyser - I think IA's point was that it doesn't matter if you're wrong or right if you're dead! You can be in the right of way doing cartwheels and somersaults or chasing butterflies across an intersection, but one stupid, inattentive driver later and you're dead. Your friend was in the right, but if he'd had his head on a swivel and paying attention to the car barreling towards him, he'd be in the right AND alive.
6
Justin: IA is blaming the victims in cases when someone who had the right of way was run over. And you seem to assume that my friend was not paying attention, and if she had been, she'd still be alive. That is not always true. Oblivious and drunk drivers, speeders, drivers who don't yield when they should, etc. rack up a big death toll every year, and people acting defensively cannot always protect themselves, no matter what they do. Not only should pedestrians not be expected to run across, it would not necessarily even save them.
And when you have a friend who's dead, it does matter on ethical grounds whether she was in the wrong or the driver who killed her. It certainly affects the way I react when I hear entitled pricks like IA complaining about pedestrians who are not hurrying across fast enough and how they're to blame for anything that may happen to them. IA takes inattentive and dangerous driving as a given. That needs to change.

Hey geyser... can we be friends? I know I'm a troll but I'm also a person, and we might even have the same dead friend!

(Actually, my friend was killed because a bus driver gestured for her to go ahead and cross, without checking the next lane for oncoming traffic that wouldn't be able to see through the bus to the corner.)
8
Yeah, run across all the lanes of traffic. Be totally fast so the douche who is texting and driving has no chance to see your ass. That is so much better.

When I am convinced that EVERY driver will both pay attention and see me, and give enough of a shit to stop I will speed up.

In the meantime I'll proceed with caution while looking out for random acts of driving and crazy pissed off drivers--LIKE YOU.

Get the fuck over yourself.
9
Eat a dick, anonymous. You try running me down while I'm crossing the street and you should expect to get a dent the size of my size 12 boot in the side of your precious vehicle.
10
Didn't your parents ever tell you "Don't run when you cross the street! If you fall nobody will see you AND YOU WILL DIE!"

Then again, my parents were into a kind of Victorian approach to teaching safety...
11
Well this was a perfect waste of my fucking time.

I,A.. what say you, if the person is an elderly? Who hasn't been able to lift his/her elbows, as you say, or seen their knees over decades? How fast should they fucking go?

I'm pretty sure; I’m pretty sure I should be able to take as long as I want as the countdown happens on the walk signal. If I get there before zero, I should not have to hurry. Cause that’s what it was fucking made for, and if you’re too impatient to wait 20 seconds, then maybe you should slow the fuck down, before YOU kill someone.
12
Whoa.

Lot of ITG's up in here who would apparently rather be "in the right" and fucking dead, than just walk a bit faster, and one guy with no reading comprehension skills in massive need of some Prozac. How can you even comment on someone so obviously lost? It's a waste of time and energy.

It sure does make it easy as hell to tell who here fits the profile though, when they so angrily out themselves. Protest much, punk asses?

I walk, drive, bike, jog, and even occasionally roller blade, and I usually try to walk at least SOMEWHAT quickly when I cross the street, but hey, the rest of you apparently hardcore badasses, (who are apparently not pedestrians by choice), keep on sauntering across like the immortal and superhuman tough guys you are!

I guess I must have missed the part where the poster said they were going to "try running you down", but I sure as hell would.

They'd be scraping up your "size 12" with a fucking spatula, bitch.
13
Wow, you're even tougher than tough, Angelripper. It's really too bad nobody gives a shit.
14
People in cars clearly have far more important things to do than those on foot and should be able to drive however the fuck they want regardless of the law. Every second a motorist is inconvenienced is an affront to all that is holy. If people get injured for not crossing the road in a timely fashion (screw you old people and those pushing strollers), it is clearly their fault. Just like if I spray a bus with machine gun fire it's the victim's fault for dying because they chose not to wear bulletproof body armor.

Fuck you, Anonymous.
15
"I don't know about you, but when I cross the street on foot, I don't freaking lollygag."

You should try it sometime. It might resolve some of your control issues.
16
Angelripper - just one thing.... you should look into the actual uses of prozac. Pretty sure that "being a raging asshole" doesn't fall under the anxiety/depression umbrella...
17
I live in Australia and here pedestrians do NOT have the right of way. You have to be alert, you have to be aware, and you must be fast. It took awhile to get used to, but it sure puts the opposite attitude in perspective. Peds may be slower and more vulnerable, but bottom line is the faster you are off the crosswalk/road, the safer you will be.
18
You're all idiots! Surprise!

Please wait...
