America's moral hazard. I trust China and Russia more than my own country these days.

And low IQ libs will easily vote in Hilary Clinton and we'll have yet another decade of this decline into surveillance and "we have to do all this to protect you!" bs.
2
And what's your enlightened idea of an alternative candidate? You think Republicans are any different?
Bitch please.

Wow, I,A. What a good, original idea. Take a few scraps of interesting news from the past week, shove them all together into a paragraph or two, and call it 'The Week in Review'.

Why hasn't someone else thought of this by now? Oh, wait. Isn't that kind of what Harper's has been doing with their 'Weekly Review' for years? Hmmm. And now, after a long 20 seconds of searching, i see that there are a few other variations from other organizations, too, surprisingly. Dude, you should totally sue these guys for stealing your idea before you had it!

And i totally agree with you that this forum is much better-suited for copying and pasting news blurbs than it is for typing out personalized rants.

(Confidential to the Mercury staff: You guys should think about doing something like this for Blogtown, but on a daily basis instead of weekly. You could call it 'Good Morning, Daily News Review!', or something. And you could include links even! And/or maybe even off-topic video clips at the end, if you really want to get crazy.)

OnlySanePerson "And what's your enlightened idea of an alternative candidate? You think Republicans are any different?

I didn't say that. Why do so many liberals instantly have the same knee jerk reaction of blaming republicans? Both parties may wear different jerseys but they play for the same team so put down the kool aid and quit playing sides. Perhaps if you weren't so lazy as to jump on board with whatever puppet candidate CNN/MSNBC tells you about you'd have a deeper range of candidates to choose from.

Contrary to what Rachel Maddow tells you, there are more options for this country than just Hilary vs Chris Christie or Marco Rubio.

If you stop feeding the trolls, they'll go away.

This whole thing has made me 5 points dumber.

In a major embarrassment for President Barack Obama, an aircraft thought to have carried Snowden landed in Moscow on Sunday, and the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks said he was "bound for the Republic of Ecuador via a safe route for the purposes of asylum."

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer charged that Russian President Vladimir Putin likely knew and approved of Snowden's flight to Russia and predicted "serious consequences" for a U.S.-Russian relationship already strained over Syria and human rights.

"Putin always seems almost eager to stick a finger in the eye of the United States - whether it is Syria, Iran and now of course with Snowden," Schumer, a New York Democrat, told CNN's "State of the Union" program. He also saw "the hand of Beijing" in Hong Kong's decision to let Snowden leave the Chinese territory despite the U.S. extradition request.

Ecuador's ambassador to Russia, Patricio Alberto Chavez Zavala, told reporters at a Moscow airport hotel he would hold talks with Snowden and Sarah Harrison, a WikiLeaks representative.

Hours later, shortly after midnight (2000 GMT Sunday), the ambassador emerged from a business-class lounge near the hotel and refused to say whether he had met Snowden or make any other comment. Shortly before he appeared, a cart with three plates of salmon and a Starbucks bag were rolled into the lounge.

The head of the NSA, General Keith Alexander, said he did not know why it failed to prevent Snowden leaving Hawaii for Hong Kong with the secrets.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was booed onstage Saturday when she said former government contractor Edward Snowden broke the law by leaking classified documents on National Security Agency (NSA) surveillance programs.

Speaking at the NetRoots Nation conference in San Jose, Calif., Pelosi told the audience to reject comparisons between President Barack Obama and his predecessor, President George W. Bush, on their oversight of surveillance programs. The top House Democrat said Obama is poised to reveal "in another few days, a few more proceedings" of the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

Pelosi received the loudest boos and heckles from the crowd when she said Snowden had run afoul of the law by leaking documents to the media on a pair of secret NSA surveillance programs.

Wow, j.cas, you really need to learn art of sarcasm because my vitriol went right over your damn head.

Also, I don't identify as a Democrat or liberal so just chew on that for a while.
You can sit down now.
12
Oh, so now you were being sarcastic? No really, seems legit.

It's not about voting for a Democrat or a Republican, butt rather about voting for a candidate who is actually an American citizen. I don't know if we ought to imprison O'bama, or just deport him.
14
Deport O'bama back to Ireland, at once.

WikiLeaks attorney Michael Ratner on Monday argued that Snowden was a whistle-blower being “persecuted for political opinion,” and said there was no arrest warrant and therefore no reason to treat him like an international fugitive. Ratner also argued that “asylum trumps extradition.”

“This morning the U.S. Secretary of State [John Kerry] called Edward Snowden a traitor,” Assange continued. “Edward Snowden is not a traitor. He is not a spy. He is a whistle-blower who has told the public an important truth.”

Assange blasted the Obama administration, saying public furor should be aimed at the NSA policies Snowden revealed, rather than the motives of the person who disclosed the information.

“The Obama administration was not given a mandate by the people of the United States to hack and spy upon the entire world, to breach the U.S. Constitution and the laws of other nations in the manner it has,” he said. “To now attempt to violate the international asylum law by calling for the rendition of Edward Snowden further demonstrates the breakdown of the rule of law by the Obama administration.”

Donald Trump took to Fox and Friends this morning and asked why, given all the leaks coming out about the U.S. Government, the only thing that hasn't been released are the president's records.

"The only thing we don't seem to get are the records from the president. Isn't that interesting?" Trump said.

Trump has relentlessly been in pursuit of President Obama's college records, at one point offering $5 million in charitable donations in exchange for the transcripts.

Trump also blasted the Obama administration's inability to capture NSA leaker Edward Snowden, calling it "pathetic" and talked about the possibility of executing Snowden.

“This guy is a bad guy,” he said. “And you know, there is still a thing called execution. You have to take a strong hand. You have thousands of people with access to the kind of material like this. We’re not going to have a country any longer.”

We're all in hiding: from people who would harm us; from our deepest, darkest selves; from the slow or abrupt intrusion of death. If we emerge from our haunts, they'll be waiting. If we stay inside, they'll come to get us. Roman Polanski seemed secure living in Paris, making films in France and Germany, until a visit to Switzerland last Sept. led to his detention on an international arrest warrant. He completed the editing of The Ghost Writer while under house arrest.

Roman Polanski's detention shadows 'Ghost Writer'

A writer assigned to polish the autobiography of a former British prime minister (Pierce Brosnan). McGregor is replacing a previous writer who drowned mysteriously, and when Brosnan comes under investigation as a war criminal, it becomes clear there is something in this politician's story that someone is willing to kill over.

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/life/movies…

On 26 September 2009, Roman Polanski was detained by Swiss police at Zurich Airport while trying to enter Switzerland, in relation to his outstanding 1978 U.S. arrest warrant. Polanski had planned to attend the Zurich Film Festival to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. The arrest followed a request by the United States that Switzerland apprehend Polanski. The United States had been seeking his arrest and extradition worldwide since 2005. On 12 July 2010, the Swiss court rejected the U.S. request and released Polanski from custody.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Polans…

Polanski says the extradition request to Switzerland is based on a lie, in that it suggests the time he spent in prison was for the purposes of "diagnostic study".

"The said request asserts that I fled in order to escape sentencing by the US judicial authorities, but under the plea-bargaining process I had acknowledged the facts and returned to the United States in order to serve my sentence. All that remained was for the court to confirm this agreement, but the judge decided to repudiate it in order to gain himself some publicity at my expense," he writes.

He says prosecutors from the original case have testified under oath that he has already served whatever jail term he would have been given.

j.cas: I really hope your not referring to Rand Paul and his daddy.

If your referring to Cynthia McKinney, then by all means proceed.

Please wait...
