Hey, I just bought a ticket for next week's show at Mississippi Studios--how come they won't see the show tonight too with that same ticket? Stupid ticket Nazis, this is some Heinrich Himmler-level shit over here...
2
lolwut, national socialism?

next time have a valid fare, it's only fair.
3
I have no experience with these passes but it seems odd that the pass wouldn't go into effect from the day you purchase it.

My guess is the fare inspector assumed you were lying and trying to scam the system. I don't think this makes them nazis.. they probably deal with tons of scammers using all sorts of tricks/excuses to ride for free.

The people that get hired as ticket inspectors are usually the type that don't give a shit if you or the city hates them.

I'm tired of this pervasive attitude that people around here have when things don't go their way. To quote the Damon Wayans masterpiece Mo Money- payyofare, payyofare PAY YO FARE!
5
I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hand-jobber today.
6
What, you really thought your one-month pass was good for one month, PLUS 4 days? Yeah, right. At least have the balls (or ovum) to admit what you are, you fucking thief. You're just pissed because you got caught. Maybe you're even more pissed because you usually pay your fare, but this one time you thought you'd try to get away with it and were immediately busted, and so now you're stomping your feet and are all "No fair! No fair!! Yeah, I had my hand in the cookie jar, but, NAZIS!!"

"You are against poor people. You treat people like criminals.", says the criminal who just got caught stealing. Hey, dumbshit: if they allowed sloppy thieves like yourself to get away with stealing fares any more often than they already do, the tickets and passes would become even more expensive and unaffordable for all the poor folks that you supposedly give a shit about. And the busses/trains wouldn't be as nice as they are. And they wouldn't be able to offer as much service as they do. And the drivers (the "real workers") would earn less. Etc., etc.

Anyway, betcha you're not going to pretend to 'misread' your pass again, are ya? See? The system works.

(And aren't those passes issued for calendar months? So this happened over three weeks ago and you're still whining about it? You poor, oppressed soul.)

Judging from my experience with a fare inspector when I cleverly misplaced my validated ticket, I'm willing to believe that you acted like a complete jerk- irritating the inspector to the point where they changed their mind about giving you a warning.

At any rate, good on you for invoking Godwin's Law and thank you for helping me select "John Wayne was a Nazi" for my afternoon playlist..
8
Having to pay the fare for the month that you are in is DEFINITELY comparable to being put in a concentration camp. Fuckin crypto-fascists!
9
Look, that's just the way the game is played. If you're going to stowaway then you need to know where to get off before the Gestapo gets on.
10
Where do they get on? I've taken the Max hundreds of times over the last 15 years and have never once seen a fare inspector. I always pay for fare anyways, but these fare inspectors seem like unicorns.
11
The question really is what is the fair amount for 'stealing' a ride on the transit system. A ride that will occur weather you pay or not.
Is a fine of $175 'fair'?
No its not, its government predation, pure and simple
12
The unfair inspectors usually tend to travel back and forth between Old Town / Chinatown and the Rose Quarter, but once in blue Moon, they might surprise you out in the boonies. As for the maximum penalty, everything's negotiable, however, what would be the deterrent of a fine equivalent to a monthly bus pass? A bum could ride for a year without getting caught.
13
I know a bum who used to ride the bus everyday. He would always pay, everyday, until he collected enough bus transfers, so that he would only have to pay once per day, in order to see what the paper punched code for that day was. Then he could search his file and select an old transfer that had tat same code before, and use it for the rest of the day.

The guy looked a total mess, but he kept his assortment of transfers in immaculate condition in a plastic pouch. That would be too, much work, for me.
14
Every fourth or fifth ride Tri Met needs to comp us. It's only good business.
15
HEY AL!

I noticed you posted the Fare Nazi post on your blog but NOT ONE of the replies telling this fool that they were indeed stealing. Telling both sides my ass.
16
Hey PSfnU what a shitty "Joke" the "then you need to know" was what about if you indeed shit on your own cultural legacy siding with the people who hate the Country you now live on huh? and cheer for them too?

ASS, GRASS, OR BUS PASS.

NOBODY RIDES FOR FREE, MOTHERFUCKER.

Leaky, are you responding in the corresponding thread to your comment? I'd really like to address the substance or your remarks, but the context for them eludes me. In the abstract I could think of examples to either argue or agree with your supposition. If you have preconceptions about this avatar, and find yourself confused by incongruities with your assumptions, oh, well.

Whatever PSfnU.

Didn't read it, what does it prove?
22
It's your quote which you apparently had attributed to me. That was the only page where the Merc's search engine found anything like it. What the fuck were you talking about?
23
Please don't waste anymore time trying to reason with Leaky. I had a run in with that clown months back and logic isn't an effective debate tool when communicating with him.

My advice, just let his stupid comments go. You know the old saying, "It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool then to open your mouth and prove it." I just wish Leaky would heed that advice from time to time.
24
PSfnU knows exactly what I'm talking about, that's why he goes and goes off tangent and off topic appearing to not know the issue and diverges wildly.
25
Anon what you need to do is change your court date once or twice and the cop will most likely not show up and your ticket will be dismissed. It worked for me.
26
WHy does it seem like the most wingerish of the commentors are the ones doing the whiny bitching hippie thing these days? I thought those guys were supposed to be the strong rugged individualists.

Hey! Play by the rules, fuckface! We know fares are regressive taxation. Doesn't mean you fucking don't do your part.
27
Evading taxes is illegal. Avoiding taxes is a duty. Isn't it the purpose of MAX to open up new territory for integration in order to enable criminals easy access to areas where they otherwise wouldn't be going, anyway?
28
Corrupt systems aren't to be coddled in hopes of propping them up. The best way to defeat corruption is to exploit it's dumbshit weaknesses so that it may fall of it's own dead weight.

The Rothschilds of the Bank of Rothschild indeed betray their own cultural legacy siding with the people who hate their country and their race.
