Agreed. There are some reasons to legitimately criticize (he had children under his care at the time), but these glib comments from people who know nothing about addiction are disgusting and I'm glad I don't have the kinds of friends posting them. I'm avoiding anything about this or the Farrow situation so as to maintain what's left of my sanity.

It is sad when anyone dies in such a tragic way. He was a talent of unbelievable proportion. Loved him in Doubt and The Savages. Somethings are not so easy to weigh in but do agree with- RIP- Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

He was superb on screen and seemed like a nice guy. He'll be missed. Legalize all drugs? NO! Pot definitely. The only way you can monitor a junkie is house him/her and get them off of it. The same for crack meth coke benne's ludes (I'm dating myself). If we could get a message back from up there, Phillip Janis Jimi Jim Billie Hank, Townes VanZandt, Chris Farley and many more would say NO DEAL.

No, of course no alcoholic or drug addict is weak, no addict has no willpower, none of them are selfish or chronic narscissists, or can't get their shit together, etc.

Unless they're a recovering alcoholic or drug addict who has gotten sober... then they're strong, and courageous and noble until the cows come home... and no shortage of people will be there to tell them that every time their sobriety is brought up.

Funny how that works.

yes but who knew the offspring of Dustin Hoffman and Jane Seymour would turn out to be such an excellent actor...

How did this become an "i, anonymous" rant? This is fucked.

One way to look at the relationship between drugs and hip is as a business arrangement. Drugs are the product, hip is the marketing plan.

Gotta die from something. Too sad it was so soon.
He was a great actor and will be sorely missed.

Look on the bright side: he died really really fucking high.

Probably beats cancer or getting hit by a bus.

Please wait...
