There's actually something to this. I worked inside sales, phoning financial institutions nationwide. Regular guys from New Jersey are the easiest to sell to. Right off the bat, they start asking all the right questions to avoid being pitched, then they don't hesitate to buy or say bye.
Now what exactly was it they did that you didn't like again?
'Your band sucks/you're a really bad friend/you're flakey/you suck at serving/you're a shitty roommate, etc"
At a certain point it's just not worth it.
