It kills me that Yelp has become such a popular site given how slimy the people who run it are. Even with most people knowing Yelp uses sleazeball tactics like prioritizing negative reviews until the business owner pays a fee to repair their score, people still flock to Yelp as though it's a legitimate source.

I can't count the number of one star reviews I've seen because the reviewer felt the host gave them a dirty look, or didn't say please and thank you enough. The level of entitlement with customers, the assumption that mistakes never happen in the real world and if your burger was a little overcooked or fries a little too salty, instead of telling your server so it can be fixed you passively stew in anger until you get home so you can rage type your 1 star diatribe about 'the worst meal I ever had'. Yelp is cancer.

Alright, this time I'm gonna use that chance and serve you the best drinks and food and cocktails and food, in my possibilities which to me are endless. That's what I want to hear.

That would be a nice Yelp reply which could embedded as answer in the page.

Using Yelp for anything other than location, hours of operation, and menu lookups is like entrusting your retirement planning to a door to door encyclopedia salesman.

Isn't the safe assumption here that anyone who bothers posting on Yelp has no life, and therefore may not have the most discerning palate?

I wonder if Yelp actually creates pages for businesses, without either informing the proprietor or asking consent. Why would anybody in their right mind, create a Yelp account if it doesn't have the filtering capability of suckass, facebutt? Too bad if you created the Yelp page yourself, because otherwise you might be able to sue.

They probably didn't complain to you because they knew there was really nothing wrong, and they are creeps.

You should be able to yelp your neighbors. That will be hot shit once it's invented.....
