It's about four minutes to midnight when it comes to making the hard choices about water. A tap fee may be the answer. We'll be around to count your taps. PUT A FEE ON IT!
2
Start drinking from puddles before everyone else jumps on the band wagon.
3
wow shit really does roll downhill.
4
Gee golly if only we had some kind of underground reservoir system almost ready to go
5
Yeah, a self-perpetuating (initially elected then filling vacancies by appointment) board of unpaid, corporate shills mandated to have absolutely NO experience actually running a municipal water system surely would have prevented this.
6
One kid took a piss in the water and got a shit-ton of national publicity. It was only a matter of time before someone decided to up the ante and spray diarrhea through those iron bars.
7
But the e coli is organic and fair trade.
8
AMEN brotha!!!! Shortest, most effective, and spot on rant I've seen in a while
9
I've been busy in my garage putting the finishing touches on my stillsuit. Beta testing with partially filtered urine has been tough but it'll pay off in the end...

This is why I eschew the water company (and all utilities besides electric and split internet with neighbor). I use catchment. I am bummed on this new street tax and art tax however. Can't vote on it!!!

Yes, in the dry season, i haul in tap water to flush my toilet. To save you a question colonel....

And boiling your own water is the latest DIY here.

Paying for water in Portland is like Eskimos' having to buy ice. Instead of putting Solar panels on the roof to collect Sunlight for only 90 days per year, wouldn't it make a lot more sense to install rain catchment systems that can collect water for 9 months? The reservoirs in the parks could then be used as a place for bums to piss when the restrooms are locked.

Did you know that in Canada, you can go to jail for calling an Eskimo an Eskimo, even though the Eskimos call themselves Eskimos?

^As previously discussed, solar panels work year-round here. Yes, even on overcast days there is sun. It's not like a rainy day=24 hours of nighttime. It still gets light, plants still grow, you can still see, and solar panels still function, even when it's cloudy. The only thing that DOESN'T work when it rains here is the flow of traffic.
13
Well, Belle, that does not negate my great idea of bums pissing in the reservoirs. Rain catchment systems could be made to collect runoff of Solar panels.
14
I'd do solar to treat my catchment and turn it into drinking water but the sun doesn't like it here. So I do other things for drinking and cooking water. Otherwise, my catchment gets me through every year. It's nice to not have to pay those bills and it's funny when a meter reader wants to inspect.... They are usually just in awe..

CAN'T WAIT FOR TA-NEHISI COATES' COVER STORY ON WATER RATEPAYER REPARATIONS
16
Totally, because finding E. coli in the water surely lowers the cost to provide said service. No need to have what you pay connected to reality in any way.
17
Buddy, close.
Anyone seeing you in your natural environment has one thought in their brain
Aw
Ful.

I've been drinking the E coli tap water and i'm just fine. If i want diarrhea, i'll just eat at most any restaurant in town.

Please wait...
