And yet, you continue to shop there despite ample grocery choices in to patronize. But I hear Safeway management reads this blog religiously, so I am sure the issue will be fixed ASAP.

Safeway has always been horrible.

Dear Safeway Shopper,

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, at this time and probably for the future we will not be accepting suggestions. The grocery market price fixing program of the 1970's ensured that we will be your favorite (only) grocery store in your neighborhood (if you even have one) for many years to come, no matter how badly we rape shoppers with poor selection, high prices and low quality.

However if you still have concerns please submit a customer feedback card to your nearest Safeway Checkout Specialist.

Thank you again,

SAFEWAY "Since We're Neighbors, Let's Be Friends".

That Safeway on Ainsworth and MLK is a clusterfuck. The neighborhood must love it, though, seeing as they tried so hard to cockblock that Trader Joe's that was going in on Alberta and MLK.

Safeway sucks King Kong's balls!!!!

The fact it would only cost each store about $36,000/yr to employ one more person on the registers is a testament to what cheap pieces of shit they are. And if they split that between 2 part time employees, it would cost even less.

Fuck Safeway in the ear!!!

I like it when a Safeway employee (manager?) walks by idly straightening items while the two lines of customers go far back into the aisles. Couldn't they open a register and check folks out for a bit? I thought this was just the Safeway on NE Broadway and 11th, but after ranting to friends, they informed me that their Safeways were just as bad if not worse. As I suppose the I, Anonymous backs up as well.

In any case, most of us try really hard NOT to shop at Safeway now.

Slavewaif sucks but at least it's marginally better than Albertson's.

Or at leasst they were until Albertson's parent company Cerberus Capital Management bought them earlier this year...

On the upside, they at least acknowledge your existence when you complain about this very problem on Twitter:

I quit going to Safeway even though it's more convenient location-wise for me. People bitch about Freddy's but at least they employ semi-literate people who get some fucking training in customer service.

Only been here a year. Safeway looks kind of dingy near me, Fred Myers is too big, and I just want groceries. Usually someone's holding up the line for groceries with clothes or whatever. I love Traders, but not the vegetables ,and a little
pricey. Dollar Tree so cool and love the coffee ,Breakfast Blend, French Vanilla and Hazelnut. Grocery Outlet is fun and you never know what you'll find- Watch the expiration date.
New Season-love the asparagus soup, and the fun of snacking while I look around. Lots of very nice Shallots. Never Had them before, like onion and garlic mix.

LOL, Safeway subsidizes their stores in PDX, I don't think any of them actually turns a profit

You do realize by the end of the year Safeway will be owned by Albertsons. In the mean time current management just doesn't give a damn. They are just waiting for the sale date to Albertsons. Like kids waiting for school to get out. Once Albertsons take over Safeway corporate office goes bye buh.

Dear Lord, so true! What I love about Fred Meyer is no matter how busy it is, I don't have to wait in line too long. No matter how SLOW it is at Safeway (and it's always slow), I have to wait forever!

Please wait...
