I'm a slow learner. I spent 4 1/2 decades as a card carrying republican. Primarily because I did think it was the party of national protection and fiscal soundness. To a young man with a fair amount of ambition that "when we're in office America prospers and you can too" bullshit struck a note. When I got older and so much wiser I can't stand it, I clearly see that the entire Republican party not just the extreme right wing has only loathing and contempt for the lower middle and underprivileged classes. Romney was the icing on the cake for me. That guy thinks of us as dirt under his toenails and something he has to wipe off a dark area of his body. America's pattern has been eight year one party then a switch. God I hope the Dems pick an electable candidate like Hillary Clinton, and call me crazy but Joe Biden would be an apt candidate too. Neither of them should have much trouble beating some bought and sold corporate clown that you know the party of the Koch Brothers will nominate and bankroll.
