Argh, I know what you're talking about. I know it's in part because of the booze at the Works, but all performance isn't comedy. The audience was laughing throughout tEEth's performance last Saturday, too.
hmm, yea, the rhetoric of evangelists is fascinating stuff, and worthy of topic, but sounds like he maybe missed the mark? am guessing it was the demographic that caused the laughter...I doubt many TBA-ers have much of a religious background; no one would laugh at this in MT, or in the majority of the Midwest I doubt. have you seen this documentary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2lum9J4-hg
