International Pop Overthrow The International Pop Overthrow is sort of a misnomer. The first-ever Portland installment of the festival, which begins today and lasts through Saturday, hosts only one "international" group—and they're from Vancouver, BC. But don't let that deter you; there'll be a ton of great bands, even if they took a bus to the venue instead of a plane. SB East End, 203 SE Grand, $8, 7:00 PM Vicky Cristina Barcelona Screening Never mind that Woody Allen's latest, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, is a funny, skewering look at the relationships of two American girls abroad. Never mind that Javier Bardem gives a fantastic performance as a seedy but charming Spanish painter. Never mind that it's set against the gorgeous, sun-dappled backdrop of Barcelona. None of that matters, because Allen is a dirty old man and Scarlett Johansson and Penélope Cruz totally make out!!! NL Various Locations, Various Locations, Buckwheat Zydeco It's always handy when a musical performer's name matches the musical performer's genre. For example: David Bowie? No idea what you're getting. Luciano Pavarotti? Could be anything. Buckwheat Zydeco, on the other hand, lets you know exactly what you're in store for: an evening of good-time zydeco tunes—i.e., accordion-based Cajun-style dancing music—performed by a living legend.
