If you're not HYPED for tonight's fourth season premiere of FX's most underrated show, The Americans, then... then... omigod, I don't think I'll be able to look at you anymore! For the uninitiated, The Americans stars Keri Russell (Felicity!) and Matthew Rhys as a Washington, DC suburban couple with two kids—and who also just happen to be KGB spies during the height of Reagan's Cold War. The first three seasons were all about how this couple tried to maintain a somewhat normal life for their kids (who have no idea they're spies), while serving the Russian government who often requires them to get into very dangerous, action-packed situations, and have lots of hot sex with each other and their enemies. Needless to say their marriage is... complicated. And at the end of season three, they were forced to confess their spy status to their oldest daughter—who might be led into the spy biz by their Russian overlords. Again... COMPLICATED!

But as far fetched as it may sound, this kind of shit actually went down in the '80s, and some of the episodes have roots in actual events. The writing is whip smart, the acting is terrific, and the sex scenes are HOT. And occasionally it even has very funny dark humor. It is hands down one of the very best shows on TV, so catch up on old episodes at Amazon Prime, and don't miss tonight's season four premiere (FX, 10 pm).
