They egged his house, twice, last night and he responded with a bullet, Portland police say.

Southeast Portland resident William Thomas, 68, was arrested just before 2 a.m. today after calling police to report that he fired his gun towards a car whose occupants had just tossed eggs at his house for the second time that night. He was outside cleaning up the first one when they came by again. Cops said the bullet missed his targets, a red Ford Taurus speeding away with people laughing inside, and instead hit a neighboring house near a child's bedroom.

Thomas was booked on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and discharging a firearm in the city.

Cops are asking people to nark on the egg throwers by calling the non-emergency line at 503-823-333 (reference case #16-141405).
