Greek wine doesn’t have the best of reputations—and that’s even if you’ve heard about it. Which is a shame, as Greece has some excellent wineries and the quality is only getting better.

This Sunday, there’s the opportunity to sample a selection of Hellenic wines at Able Farms’ Greek Pop-Up Dinner (full disclosure: I know one of the organizers). Chef and farmer Megan Denton will be serving a meal resonating with the flavors of the Mediterranean: peach, cucumber, and mint, with honey yogurt, lemon-smoked feta and Ladotyri (olive-soaked cheese) and a main of braised lamb and cherries.

Each course is paired with a Greek wine (selected by 1856 bottle shop), plus there’s a welcoming wine-based cocktail. After-dinner beverages and Greek cigarettes(!) will also be on offer.

It’s happening at the Green Anchors Yard, right by the St. Johns Bridge—and while the Willamette might not quite match the sparkling azure of the Med, it’s still darn lovely on a late summer’s eve.

Able Farms' Greek Pop-Up Dinner, Sunday August 28th at 6 pm, $75 (tickets available here)
