So that Thor: Ragnarok trailer, huh?

Yeah.

Yeah.

YEAH.

Here at Mercury HQ, we're big fans of writer/director/actor/etc. Taika Waititi—just in the past few years, we've done everything we can to convince you to watch Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows. And as soon as I walked into the office this morning I was ambushed by Ned and Campy, both of whom seemed Hulk-level angry that I hadn't yet watched the Ragnarok trailer—our first glimpse of how Waititi has somehow tricked Disney into giving him millions and millions of dollars to spend as he will.

What I told Ned and Campy, and what I'm now telling you, is that since Waititi's Thor is months away, here's something to listen to in the meantime: Waititi's phenomenal interview on Elvis Mitchell's The Treatment podcast. Even as a film nerd, I'll readily admit that most movie-related podcasts are fucking insufferable, but Mitchell's is always great—and this episode is particularly great, with Waititi talking about comparatively little stuff (handheld cameras) and comparatively big stuff (the purpose of art and man's quest for immortality). It's fantastic and smart and charming stuff, and one of my favorite interviews to listen in on in ages. So now I'm telling you about it, because it might make the wait for Waititi's latest go just a little bit faster.

(Unrelated, but while I'm thinking about The Treatment/demanding that you listen to things I like: Mitchell's conversation with Jordan Peele about Get Out is great, too.)
