As noted in Good Morning, News, Montana GOP candidate Greg Gianforte has been charged with misdemeanor assault for allegedly body slamming a Guardian reporter after he asked a tough question. To make matters worse, Gianforte then issued a press statement that blamed the victim—even though the audio of the incident seems to tell quite a different story. Was that enough to make Twitter go insane? Why, yes! YES IT WAS.
If I assaulted Greg Gianforte, how quickly do you think I'd be arrested?#ArrestGianforte— Franklin Leonard (@franklinleonard) May 25, 2017
If you are defending "Republican Greg Gianforte" assault of a reporter, you can no longer claim you are for law and order.— Ken (@WWEReverb) May 25, 2017
Republican Greg Gianforte not only physically assaulted a reporter, but then lied and put blame on liberal media. #trumpism at its finest.— ❄️Carrie Mayne ❄️ (@Mayne1Carrie) May 25, 2017
Republican Greg Gianforte's blaming of his actions on the "liberal media" was cowardly. Oh sorry, I meant presidential.— Erin Sargent (@Erinmauri) May 25, 2017
It's just like my great great grandma used to say, "When life hands you lemons, body slam a reporter."— Jenny Johnson (@JennyJohnsonHi5) May 25, 2017

Not surprisingly, there were those in the Trump camp who believe this sort of behavior is absolutely acceptable.
