Let's stop and review for a moment what the president of the United States has done regarding Russia in his first 4 months in office...
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
Thus far, Donald Trump has:
- Invited the Russian foreign minister and a probable Russian spy/recruiter into the Oval at Putin's request...
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
He gave the Russians in the Oval previously secret information identifying a third party country's infiltration of ISIS.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
He then identified that third party country, Israel, on camera, while standing beside the Israeli prime minister.

He all but repudiated NATO, refused to recommit to Article V, shoved the leader of new NATO country Montenegro and slagged Germany.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
He put on display the very fracturing of the Western alliance that Putin has dreamed of for decades.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
His administration hinted it would "look at" rolling back sanctions against Russia, then walked it back.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
We learned that his son-in-law and then national security adviser held secret meetings designed to open a direct channel to Putin.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
And so did his attorney general.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
He installed as National Security Adviser a man by then known by the intelligence services and his own goverment to be compromised by Russia
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
and refused for 18 days to remove him, despite explicit warnings from the acting attorney general.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
He approved pipeline projects for which part of the steel used for construction comes from Russian firms.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
And now, he is returning to Russia two facilities used by them as bases to attack our sovereignty and elections.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
Which is in essence, the reversal of sanctions.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
Which begs the question @jonathanalter asked tonight: do the Russians have something on Trump to make him do these things?
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
Because no American president has ever acted this way - with such seemingly reflexive obedience to a foreign power.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
Throw in the coming withdrawal from the Paris climate accords, and the shattering of the Western alliance looks more and more possible.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
Vladimir Putin couldn't have asked for more. God only knows what Trump will give him next.
— Joy Reid (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2017
Which begs the question: What's else is there that Trump could give Putin? A ticker-tape parade up 5th Avenue? The Hope Diamond? A rusty trombone?
