President Donald Trump stopped by Corpus Christi, Texas this afternoon for a briefing on Hurricane Harvey and to see the damages the area had incurred. Outside of the Annaville Fire House, Trump greeted a "throng of hundreds" of supporters, protesters, according to a press pool report.

"I just want to say: We love you, you are special, we're here to take care," the president said while standing on a ladder. "It's going well and I want to thank you for coming out."

Rather than expressing solidarity with those displaced or condolences to the families of the 15 people reportedly killed by the historic hurricane, Trump commented on the gathering's attendance.

"What a crowd, what a turnout," the president said.

The president later added that "Texas can handle anything."

One press pool dispatch also noted that demonstrators held banners reading "Liar, Racist, Cheat" and "Latinas Against Trump."
