WHOLE FOOLS

Comments

1
I wish this douche nozzle had tried to raze up on ME like that, i would've knocked the shit outta him!
2
@DamosA - I like to think I would have, too, but I probably would have just been laughing at him. That's funny!
3
That person almost certainly drove away in a car bearing Californian plates.
4
Without lapsing in to Internet-Tough-Guy-Syndrome, I really wish I would have been there for this. I really enjoy getting to useless and pointless screaming matches in public. I find them to be entertaining. Sort of like the internet.
6
After watching a pool of pinkish liquid slowly leak out from a package of chicken, and seeing sticky goo left from damaged frozen juice cans, I think NOT using the conveyor belt actually shows she has been to a grocery store before, and knows how that whole process works!
7
I had something similar happen to me the other day. People who rage that much at the cash register really, really, really need to get a fucking life.
8
@ jake

What's a "mama-chari"?

@Oregometry

Please clarify your statement about the rude dude having California plates. What would make you say that? This isn't the first comment I’ve seen from you knocking the golden state. If anything, your comment conveys the same type of narrow mindedness as the guy ianon was griping about. Did someone from Cali hurt your feelings? Molest you? Kick your baby? Why so much venom for our broke ass brothers down south?
10
Southern California is ground zero for the de-evolution of the human race. Souless, obnoxious, shallow, rude, vile, disgusting people.
11
It's so nice to read an i, anon where the comment section isn't deluged with critical comments toward the author! WOOP!
12
@ Ten Red

Listening to Oregonians making generalizations like that shows your lack of global perspective.
Have you ever been to Afghanistan? Botswana? North Korea? If you had, you would know that California and Oregon are EXACTLY THE SAME.
13
i'm not understanding this at all. she must have done something prior to this incident to piss this guy off that she isn't aware of (which would be typical of any self-entitled whole foods customer -- typically female -- shopping in the portland metro area). no one is going to throw a fit simply because someone doesn't put their food items on the conveyor belt. that doesn't make sense at all.
14
@ el duce, you do realize we're talking about placing food items on a conveyor belt at the local whole foods, right? i mean, afghanistan, botswana, north korea? sounds to me like you a need a little perspective, buddy. and, further, if you visited the rest of the united states, which i'm sure you haven't had time for, what with all you're travels to afghanistan, botswana, and north korea, then you might know that, indeed, southern california is ground-zero for shithead human behavior.
15
@ ajnpdx

I'm not talking about conveyor belts. I'm talking about Ten Red's comment, "Southern California is ground zero for the de-evolution of the human race."
And listen up, smartypants, I've seen well over half of this country, and my point is this; every state, from California to New York, has an assortment of nice people and shitheads. Even Oregon.
16
@ El Dulce
Oregon has gone down hill since the latest wave of SoCal douche bags have arrived... so has Colorodo, Nevada, Arizona, parts of Montana and Wyoming. I have seen this diseased culture spreading thoughout the West for 15 years. I've never been to Afghanistan, North Korea, ect... but I'm pretty sure they're not full of under worked, over paid ass holes that think the world revolves around them.
17
Umm, The CA plates comment is as old as my mums gravy bowl handed down to her from her Jewish aunt.Stop hating Californians we always go there for freedom of boredness and then hate on them......SORRY,but it bothered me.

Any hoe, about the hostile whistle in the store.A nice "A PHAK EH JU" would of done the trick.
18
This persons behavior towards the writer was inexcusable, but does that make it acceptable to judge his
1)age-why is there so much ageism in this town? You will be there one day too genius
2)alleged politics or beliefs-how do you know?
3) clothing and hair style-how very Portland of you. Instead of being judgmental, how about you could have just told him to piss off
19
Next time put your two small items in a cart and then pull up to the checker and hand the items to them without using the divider or the conveyor belt.

One of the most important rules of etiquette is that individuals don't get to make up their own rules and inflict them on other people - the rules are formed by consensus & time.

There's no rule that you have to put your stuff on the conveyor. This covers the etiquette part of the problem.

Then, there's the tactical situation: If someone starts a conversation with a person who is not you about a "rule" that isn't real, especially if they seem to be implying that you are somehow breaking a delusional rule, how about ignoring the conversation? For you to say something directly to that person is only going to lengthen and magnify a conversation that does nobody any good and increase the level of annoyance of every person in that checkstand line. If you feel irritated by the outcome of this exchange, it's only your own fault.

...but there are sooo many other things that COULD have been complained about in WFM, including WFM itself. This global grocery store started out as this quaint little patchouli-and-Marley hole-in-the-wall in Austin on the corner of 9th and Lamar St. If you didn't walk, and had the misfortune of having to drive a stick, approaching their flyswatter-sized parking lot from its only entrance off the 45 degree hill on 9th was placing your groovy, healthfood lovin' ass in jeopardy. I know. I was one of the rainbow-wearin' sackers. Not slackers...that was later in Austin's interesting history, and now, history is all that's left for the town. I can honestly say that Portland is what Austin prays some day it will be (even though Austin came up with the "Keep Our Town Weird" saying first).

Please wait...
