Good point. If they didn't hire you, they have an obligation to do the decent thing and actually inform you directly that you didn't get the job.
I'm guessing they were planning to hire "inside" from the get-go and that they didn't even listen to the outside applicants when they came in to interview.
Typical big business attitude though...they assume that THEY are everything and you are nothing, and that your feelings and your dignity don't matter.
Sorry it went this way for you, but at least know this: It wasn't you, it was them and their insensitive arrogance.
