An album that completely sneaked up on me this year was Colonia by A Camp, the occasional pick-up band fronted by the married couple with more sparkling genetics than Brangelina, or Ben-ooey, for that matter—Nina Persson (the Cardigans) and Nathan Larson (ex-Shudder to Think, the one on the right). Their second album, which has been out in the States since April, has a slightly off-register pop-country feel—like a blue-state Taylor Swift with a touch of Euro-style irony (dig those oumpah half-waltz horns in the Ford-truck-jingle-that-isn't, "My America"). In other words: it's highly recommended.
A Camp bring their skewed vision of my family reunions to the Doug Fir... tonight!
