This isn't news. John Lennon died today, 29 years ago. Jim Morrison was born today, 66(!) years ago. So December 8 has acquired a weirdly gloomy rock 'n' holiday significance, and East End is celebrating with a dual-covers night. A series of local bands will perform tunes by Lennon and Morrison, which sounds fine, while local celebrities read Jim Morrison's poetry, which doesn't. It's five bucks at the door, but if you dress up like either Lennon or Morrison (do both!) they'll knock $2 off the cover charge—which, financially, doesn't really seem worth it. Ah, I guess I'm missing the spirit of this whole thing. The real reason I'm posting this is because of this weirdly infatuating poster image. I think I'm in love with it, even though Morrison looks like Chrissie Hynde, and Lennon looks (oddly enough) like Ray Manzarek. Still, you put sparkly rainbow and butterfly tiaras on anything and I am all yours.

East End, 203 SE Grand, 9 pm, $5 ($3 w/costume)
