Zing! Well, we won't be laughing at drummers any more, not after they unify during the first annual Portland Drum Fair. A joint collaboration between Revival Drum Shop and Rhythm Traders, the fair takes place on August 15 at Revival (1465 NE Prescott) and will be a "celebration of Portland’s drumming community and the spirit of camaraderie."
There will be a vintage drum and cymbal exhibit including rare drum sets, snare drums, and cymbals from local private collections. There will also be a buy, sell, trade area and raffle giveaways.Custom drum builders attending will be: Truth Custom Drums, Allegra Drum Crafters, Kirsch Drums, Portland Drum Company, C & C Custom Drums, DRR Drum, Rokus Percussion, Ego Drum Supply and more to be confirmed.
Performers will include some of Portland’s diverse and amazing drum talents. Scheduled to appear are: Donny Osbourne (Buddy Rich protégé / Mel Torme’); Neal Morgan (Joanna Newsom); John Niekrasz (Why I Must Be Careful); Drum duet by Janet Weiss (Quasi) and Sara Lund (Unwound); Rachel Blumberg (Norfolk & Western); STLS and Rock Camp for Girls Drum Ensemble. The Drumologist, Tony Esperanza will also be on hand. DJ sets by Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse); John Moen (The Decemberists); John Sherman (Red Fang) and Jose’ Medeles (The Breeders).
