Seminal Northwest grunge progenitors Napalm Beach aren't the best known of their ilk, but they are one of the most influential. Having contributed tirelessly to the NW punk scene in the '80s and '90s alongside bands like Poison Idea, the Wipers, and Dead Moon, Napalm Beach released over 30 records and carved out an international fan base in Germany, but their successes never translated into the same kind of record sales as their contemporaries. Be that as it may, the band has endured the test of time to finally receive those accolades they so deserve as one of the Northwest's all-time greatest rock bands.
Boy, it sure would be sweet to see these local legends reunite for one last show. They actually did a couple last year for Satyricon's closing, so I don't think it's out of the question. What's more, Newman is still active, and his band Boo Frog just recorded their best LP yet, Valley of Sickness. Wait, what's that you say? A rumor that the band is getting together for a reunion set at an event sponsored by the Oregon Historical Society? Hmm, looks like we're gonna have to keep our ears open for more info on that one.
In the meantime, you can get more familiar with the band by checking out three rare tracks from their Germany-only release Thunder Lizard over at Skullman.
