Pickathon has announced the bands that will play the 2012 festival, and wow. It's easily a strong a lineup as they've ever had. Neko Case is perhaps the big-ticket name, but there are also plenty of other notable acts, including Pickathon repeat offenders Dr. Dog, Heartless Bastards, and the Cave Singers, all of whom have played the indie-roots festival before. There are also some newcomers who were born to play Pickathon, like Phosphorescent and the Mynabirds. Plenty of local bands as well: Blitzen Trapper, Langhorne Slim, Alela Diane, Laura Gibson, Typhoon, Foghorn Stringband, Y La Bamba, and more. A couple other notable names on the bill include Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, the London-based band of siblings that performs a mind-boggling array of musical styles; and the Lost Bayou Ramblers with Gordon Gano. Yes, that Gordon Gano of Violent Femmes.
