As reality came crashing back after Pickathon weekend—much more on that to come—the oppressiveness of the real world was lightened somewhat by the ability to hear the new Typhoon album, which is streaming in full on NPR this week. White Lighter is the much-awaited follow-up to the Portland band's masterful pairing of their Hunger and Thirst LP and A New Kind of House EP. It's a beautiful record, and rewards one long continuous listen, as songs flow into each other and musical ideas make surprise returns.
White Lighter comes out August 20 on Roll Call Records, and they're playing the Old Church for two MusicfestNW shows on September 5 & 6. Check out the album over at NPR.
