- Mackie Osborne
King Buzzo—AKA Buzz Osborne of the Melvins—is on his first ever solo acoustic tour, supporting his brand new solo album This Machine Kills Artists. And if that sounds like a strange proposition for one of grunge's progenitors, it does to Osborne, too. "I have no interest in sounding like a crappy version of James Taylor or a half-assed version of Woody Guthrie," he said, "which is what happens when almost every rock and roller straps on an acoustic guitar. No thanks..."
This Wednesday, June 18, Osborne will be doing a totally different kind of acoustic show at the Hawthorne Theatre—and we're giving away a pair of tickets! To enter to win, send an email to contest at portlandmercury dot com with "Send me to King Buzzo!" in the subject line. Please include your first and last name in the email. We'll select a winner at random and send him or her, plus a guest, off to the show. This contest closes Monday morning at 9 am, so enter now!
