America's fastest growing religious affiliation is "none." According to author Karen Armstrong, even "believers" have loosened their faith nowadays. In The Case for God she describes the dedication with which humans practiced religion in the past, and at this reading, co-sponsored by Powell's and Literary Arts, she shares her ideas on how to "build a faith that speaks to the needs of our age." Armstrong is the author of over 25 books including: A History of God, Islam, Buddha, Holy War, The Battle for God, The Spiral Staircase, and The Great Transformation. She has spoken to the UN, the Us Congress, and at NATO conferences, and now she's speaking to Portland.
