Urbania

Natural History (map) Northwest
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Continues through Aug. 30 2008

This month, Quality Pictures unveils a three-artist exhibition inspired by the claustrophobia and excitement of city life. Christopher Rose’s exacting drawings of car crashes and traffic jams could pass for silk screens. The incongruous imagery and saturated colors of Gerald Slota’s collage-like photo composites inject familiar urban spaces with a dose of the surreal. And David Isenhour’s bubbling sculptures, finished in automotive paint, serve as a metaphor for a city’s cellular growth. In all, Urbania serves up three occasionally contradictory takes on the modern metropolis.
