Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait Screening

Recommended

NW Film Center's Whitsell Auditorium (map) Downtown
Sat., Sept. 6, 9 p.m. 2008 All Ages

$6-7

You probably remember Zinedine Zidane as the dude who headbutted another dude in the 2006 World Cup, but Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait—screening as part of the TBA Festival—shows a different side of the soccer star. 17 different sides, in fact: Filmmakers Douglas Gordon and Philippe Pareno trained 17 cameras on the player during a 2005 match. Never deviating from shooting Zidane's "every move and glance," the game plays out purely through Zidane's features. Add in a score by Mogwai, and you've got what sounds like a fascinating film/art project/soccer match to watch. EH
