How long is the Portland Mercury going to allow Marjorie to keep spreading the lies of juice cleanses? I won't post up 200 links to various debunkings of every claim that cleansers have made, but this one link is a pretty good clearinghouse of those links.

I won't be as harsh as Graham, but there are much easier (and less expensive) ways to do this (which is temporary weight loss). It is also important to at least discuss this with a nutritionist (if you do not wish to see a doctor). Yes, it is temporary but blood sugar fluctuations beyond the norm can be problematic. If this improves the subjects eating habits, then great. I do agree that temporary fasts or IF are good ideas to detoxify. For perspective, I weigh 80 pounds less than the subject (no weight to lose here, please!) but I have lost more than that to make a weight class. In 48 hours. Is it great for you? Uh, no.

I did this for a week just to see if I could. It wasn't that bad. But I don't eat like or weigh anything close to what Artie does. I'm surprised it didn't kill him.

Fuck you. Your body is SUPPOSED to break down food and if you have to use intentionally vague health descriptors like "toxins" to describe the act of EATING FUCKING FOOD, you are spewing 100% bullshit. People get annoyed or angry at the idea of juice cleanses not because they're going to kill you, but because we have to hear of all the wonderful benefits of your new trendy crash diet.

Want to lose weight? Change your lifestyle. Make meaningful changes to your actual diet. Drink less. Exercise more. Don't starve yourself for a week and try to tell me how great that weight loss is, because any weight loss that doesn't permit you to engage in physical activity is not healthy.
