Meet Mark Wiener: The Most Politically Powerful Man in Portland (Whom You've Probably Never Heard Of)

So, it all comes down to this: Cornett says his experience with Weiner left a bad taste in his mouth, and now he wants to give him his comeuppance? Hard to swallow.

2
MARK WIENER IS A TOTAL ASSFUCKER
3
A more recent example of Weiner's fine work is that homophobe, right-wing, baby Sizemore PSU student Jasun Wurster.

It is all about controlling the message and Weiner totally assfucked that looser, courtesy of Sam Adams.

It still does not change the fact that negative campaigning is voter suppression.

I liked reading the whole interview - Matt Davis, you don't know Coffee Talk from Saturday Night live? lol
5
So... where's the dirt? Besides being the big fish in the fetid pond of Oregon political consulting, why not more expansion on how, exactly, he's an assfucker? Why include that epithet at all if you're not going to follow up on it?
6
I guess you answered the question of "Who the fuck is Mark Wiener?" but you didn't really convince me that I should care. Aside from the anonymous assfucker comment, the takeaway seems to be that he's a pretty good political consultant who most people are pretty happy with.
7
He does what he does, and he does it well. And to be fair, it's not like he has an Oregon monopoly on negative campaigning. He was repping Novick in 2008 when Merkley's team slammed the airwaves with that "Steve Novick said nasty things about Barack Obama at one point on some blog" ad.
8
Ask Dozono, Ball and Breedlove how "good" of a consultant he is.

Wait, the attacks and message were formed by none other than Weiner.

Winning at any cost is not the way to build an electorate who participates in elections. Weiner is the one who has gamed this city to, well I will just wait for the enlightened comments to defend Weiner.

I worked on a campaign for which Mark Weiner was a consultant in 2000. (I've seen him maybe once or twice since and I have nothing to gain by defending him.) I found him to be nothing short of a phenomenally hard worker with a tremendous sense of ethics. His job is to win and he works harder than anyone else to do that. I don't see what the problem is.
10
I've sat and watched Mark edit copy, during campaign shoots over the past 10 years and heard him take the high road every time. That guy is the hardest working man in Oregon's political game. Oh, by the way look at the amount of wins he has behind him. This story was just axe grinding ,with nothing to back up the sensationalist statement.
11
I've also worked with Mark and he treated everyone on our campaign with respect. He is smart, insightful and very hard working. He is an all around good guy. There is nothing shadowy about him. He is powerful because he gets results.
12
Phone rings to a conversation that never happened:

"Hey Mark, I am kinda in a bind and need your help."

"Well Sam, you are really putting me in an ethical bind here."

"I know Mark, but your smart, insightful and very hard working ethics helped me win over Dozono. And the high road you took with Bob Ball kept him out of the race."

"You got me there Sam, you know it is my job is to win and I work harder than anyone else in Portland politics. How can I help you?"

"Can you 'coach' that teenage intern that I was 'mentoring', though you were working on my campaign at the time, I never told you about him."

"Since you put it that way, I will send you an invoice. Oh, since this is not technically a campaign you ethically do not have to report this to ORSTAR. Just a FYI, the same is true with any recall nonsense."

"They don't call you 'Winning' Mark for nothing!"

13
I thought I was a total assfucker ...then I saw this guy's steely glare and I shit myself twice.
That look alone made me feel assfucked. I have been assfucked through my computer screen.

I think I'll hang up my assfucking shoes from this day forward.
Mark Weiner, I bow before your assfucking eyeholes.
14
You can tell he's evil just looking at him. He looks like a particularily horrific David Lynch character who's been hiding the dead bodies while on LSD.
15
The Mercury really needs to fire Matt Davis. The only evidence he offers that there's something "shadowy" with this consultant is that someone called him an "assfucker" off the record. He's a political consultant who is good at winning races. Oooohhh... spooky. Even as trashy sensationalist journalism, this is quite poor.
16
All smoke, no fire. What's up you guys? You seem to have really gone out of your way to write an entire article for the sole purpose of quoting your anonymous source calling this man a rude name. What is YOUR agenda in all of this? Thanks for pointing him out however, he appears to be an interesting behind-the-scenes figure, and you are correct, I hadn't really heard of him.
17
"What's My Name!"

Please wait...
