Portland's Best Barbecue, Now with Ample Seating

His meats are very good. Even for texas. The bottom rung of BBQ.
The pulled pork sandwich is very good and the sauce is ok. The chicken was good. The ribs I think are the best thing I have tried there. The brisket is good. Although I would say Clays is better. Their sides however are very lacking which is common in Portland. They all tasted like vinegar. including the pinto beans which i tried twice now. Bitter everything does not make an overall meal.

Like every other BBQ joint in town though

Firsties...just kidding. So you don't like Texas style BBQ, fine,thAt doesn't make it bad it means it's not your preference. Podnah's blows everyone out of the water in Portland. Let alone a lot of places In Texas. As far as vinigar goes don't ever travel ash from the suburbs cause the rest of the world embraces, loves it. Bite is good, grow a pallette, don't hate what you are use to.

@techchefpdx: As far as sides go, El Ray's on Division has some really really good sides. Their BBQ is good, but not up to Podnah's levels. It seems like a BBQ joint can only do sides well or do meat well.

I have to say, for the first time in the last 6 or 7 years the Mercury has a food writer that isn't unbearable to read. This quote, from a review a few years ago, still horrifies me to this day:
"Creamy winter squash number that slid down the throat with exquisite smoothness." Ugh.
From the same review: "A zesty vinaigrette that grabbed our taste buds by the collar and shook them." Holy shit that is bad writing.
Anyway, Perez, not bad.

Please wait...
