Naral's Pro-Choice Oregon's Evening of Cultural Activism
Monday, Dec. 6, Dante's, 1 SW 3rd, 5:30 pm

Not only is Naral great because they fight to protect a woman's right to choose, but they also throw an awesome party. The Oregon group kicks off the holiday season this Monday with a fund-raising cabaret of sorts, featuring Susan Gidding-Green's choice-centered play The Whole Story, festive and politically minded songs by The Fallen Angel Choir, plus a bevy of musical acts and a raffle. As further incentive, Naral will be providing tons of food from local restaurants, including but not limited to Salvador Molly's, Steamers Asian Bistro, and Epicure. So, in gratitude for paying the ticket price, Naral provides you with entertainment, a full gut, and the peace of mind that comes along with supporting crucial activism. KS

Don't Whine, Drink Wine at Hip Chicks Do Wine, Saturday, Dec. 4, 4510 SE 23rd, 753-6374, 7-10 pm, free

Use this event as a chance to purchase the greatest holiday gift ever: wine! Hip Chicks is hosting a wine-stravaganza complete with music, bellydancing, and free food and wine. Try the goods, make informed buying decisions, and get a little tipsy on someone else's dollar. 10 percent of all purchases made at this seasonal celebration go to selected community organizations like www.bark-out.org, a nonprofit that strives to keep our national forests safe from eradication. And if anyone reading happens to be thinking about buying me a bottle of wine for Christmas, I prefer a nice dry Chianti, and no bottle is too cheap. KS
