American Food Fight, Memorial Coliseum, 300 Winning Way, Fri Nov 11, 7 am–6 pm, $20 entry fee for competitors, free to spectators

Do you dream about being the mastermind behind the next big thing in the food industry? Well, here's your chance! Bring your best dish and recipe to this year's American Food Fight. This food competition will have a panel of professional chefs and business owners to judge each dish, with the grand-prize winner receiving a pretty sweet prize: a commercialization package from the Food Innovation Center worth $2,500! That means one lucky person will receive thousands of dollars to develop their special dish, design packaging for it, market it, and distribute it the world over. Or, if you'd rather just watch the whole escapade unfold, there will be live local music, an entrepreneurial fair with local service providers, and a children's coloring contest. CSB

Our favorite li'l Estacadian brewery is inviting everyone to come out and celebrate the upcoming holiday season with... mmm... beer. Enjoy beer tastings, a buffet of tasty appetizers, and guided brewery tours. Owner Ken Johnson will be there to answer questions and to talk about his beers and brewing processes. Live bluegrass music will be provided by Lost Creek, and after the shindig ends, each guest will be sent home with "beer style handouts." Cheers! CSB
