Hello Everyone,
This is Lounge Gizzard with a message. So prick up your ears, do the snake tongue wiggle, and give a sideways
devil horn salute !! I want all of you to know how much fun I had doing a show at The Lovecraft Bar last night.
I appeared at the Wednesday night musical event hosted by
>
The staff there were very gracious and I felt strangely comfortable onstage amid the mortuary paraphernalia. This
club is a Mecca for all horror movie lovers. The walls are plastered with framed cult movie photographs mostly B
+W. All things dark, foreboding, macabre and just plain bizarre are celebrated with a flair as the decorators
went
all out to create a unique, cozy sanctuary. Impressive and lovely hallucinatory original artwork also. I pined for
my old black and white twelve inch. I also wished I had filed my teeth and was sporting fresh razor slashes when I
sat down in one of their tall crypt-like booths. Nice !! I have found some people that like weird stuff as much as
I do !! I struggled through my set that was not without its hardware glitches, (in typical masochistic, martyr-
like Portland musician fashion ), and the audience gave me a satisfying round of applause. It doesn't get much
better than this. I encourage all of you to check this place out. The djs do a great job of whipping out a far-
ranging mix of electro, punk, post-punk, industrial, protopunk, Goth, and regular trippindicular music. Let your
mind and the time flow inside this little "rabid habit-shack" !! shadrac, shadrac don't look back.....
-( a term I just coined B.T.W.)

Went to see this tonight and it was amazing! Great adaptation, talented director and awesome actors, go see it! I'm not a fancy theater person, but this has made me wanna go see everything these people do.
It seems like sending Temple Lentz to this show might've been a better move than sending a fashion writer. Temple is a sketch and stand-up fan, and understands the genre. Because of that, she might not have used the word "skits." "Skits" are something boys in water balloon-stuffed bras perform at church camp. Grown-up comedians perform sketches. And The Aces perform them with aplomb. I was there for the immediate, enthusiastic standing ovation on Saturday as well. And if Rose didn't laugh once at the show, there's a chance she's a robot. Which is kind of awesome, but sending a robot to review a sketch show seems even more questionable than the fashion writer thing.
I enjoyed this show from beginning to end. I was impressed by the number of good sketches, which were fresh, smart and so funny people were covering their mouths to keep control of their loud snorts and giggle fits. It is rare to laugh from surprise and it was nice to feel that many times over. Thanks to The Aces for their solid writing and honest performances. I feel sorry for Rose, because she missed out on enjoying a wonderful show, offered at a very reasonable price. Too bad she took up a sought after seat in this consistently sold out show.
So you're saying the show was bad because you were confused? Must be a very complicated show. Seriously though, how does this qualify as a "review"?
I was at this show and they got a standing ovation, and I was one of the people surrounding Rose who was laughing their ass off. Rose writes articles about fashion. Typical Mercury to send someone to a show who isn't qualified just to take a snarky shit on it. This show is awesome.
I enjoyed this show. Some sketches were funnier than others, but the overlying theme showed a perfect balance of lightheartedness and sincerity. The comedic chemistry of these two was undeniable and fun to watch.
