This is an impressively inept thread. Nice work, jackasses.
Don't need to see it to know that it is typical of many recent Hollywood comedies; unfunny, gross and generally geared towards very dumb teenagers
@DumassA, just because a person isn't black doesn't mean they can't comment on race, you do in nearly every comment you write. What makes you an authority? Maybe a lifetime of crying about it because you never put any real effort into gaining real, marketable skills? Grow up!
This is stale, predictable Hollywood.
Every bad review I've read of this movie is either by someone who a) hasn't seen it, b) hates it because they feel like they ought to, and not necessarily because they do, or c) because they're missing the point entirely. Since when were films our moral standard bearers? Are we back in midieval Europe where art was basically just made to preach? Last time I checked art was about experimenting with and expanding our symbolic languages. If you think Django isn't doing this, that its just a vacuous stylistic ad for a racist narcissist, then you're missing the point. If you simply don't like it (which is fair enough), that's fine, but your personal subjectivities are just that- thy have nothing to do with whether or not the film is good or bad. Oh and Spike Lee is a pompous old hasbeen who couldn't write a script like Tarantino's to save his life.
Trustifarian shitwigs or white guy cornrows...tough call.
Wait, this is supposed to be a review?
@Clifton Brooks: While Mister Farakhan is technically a member of the Fruit of Islam. But he's not really an active Fruit of Islam participant. I'm amazed that you're ignorant of the details of one of the most prolific Black Nationalistic groups out there. But then... I really shouldn't ever be amazed at your ignorance; it really knows no bounds.
Will someone please review Inappropriate Comedy?
Uhhhh RiFF RAFF, that's who he's channeling, not gary oldman.
You mean Louis Farakhan?
Cliftosa. Forever in high school. Forever dressing like he's still in one.
@DamosA: You mean like the Fruit of Islam?
@Clifton Brooks: As a white cis-gendered college-educated male in America, I have the authority to talk on any topic I desire; especially on the topics of oppressed peoples. So sit down, and let me tell you about what it's like to be a person of color.
Graham, I don't believe you even have the authority to comment on race.
Black guy in bow tie would be very un-nerving, actually. So would White guy in bow tie.
@Clifton Brooks: This movie has evil yellow people, not evil brown people. If you're going to complain about other people's casual racism, check your own casual racism first.
I've been assuming that Franco is just channeling Gary Oldman's character in "True Romance." That's what it sounds like, anyway.
DamosA, what would be the opposite bad omen? Black guy with a bow tie?
You reviewed this because Erik was gonna run the gun pic again, right?
